Happy holidays, everyone. We at Charles P. Rogers wish you, your family, and your friends a merry, safe, and healthy Christmas. Whether you’re hosting family, out visiting family, or just spending the holiday at home with the ones you love, we hope it’s a great one. If you find some time to relax amid all the hugging, running, and gift wrap immolation that comes with a good Christmas Eve/morning, we suggest you pop in a flick, hop into bed, and curl up under the covers for a quality Christmas comedy. This week’s movie in bed is Jingle All the Way.
Jingle All the Way stars a pre-gubernatorial Arnold Schwarzenegger and the late great Phil Hartman. Schwarzenegger plays Howard, a mattress salesman (wink, wink!) with a wife and a young son. Hartman plays Howard’s next door neighbor, Ted. Howard is stressed out and always at work, but he tries his best to make his family happy. The only thing is, whatever Howard does, Ted does better. The two maintain a competitive “friendship” that is hilarious to watch.
The real action goes down when Howard resolves to make up for being absent in his son’s life by buying the kid the ultimate Christmas gift—the highly sought after Turbo-Man doll. The ever absent-minded Howard waits until the absolute last day possible to try and pick up the doll, maneuvering through the barely contained chaos of a toy store just before Christmas. Setback upon setback upon setback hit Howard in his quest to buy his way back into his son’s life, but throughout the madness, Jingle All the Way remains roaringly funny and slightly touching beneath it all. Anyone who has ever camped out in front of a toy store, successfully or unsuccessfully to try and be the first (or last) to pick up a child’s in-demand Christmas gift will get a kick out of Jingle All the Way.

Post by Murrye B. For those who live in a small, open apartment known as a studio, it can be a challenge to define separate living and sleeping areas. On one hand, it may be important to establish a level of privacy for your “bedroom,” but on the other hand, it is also nice to maintain an open, interrupted space so your apartment feels lighter and larger. Fortunately, there are a few options that allow you to accomplish both at once:
Furniture Arrangement
The type of furniture you choose and the way you arrange it within your apartment affects one’s perception of the space. For example, a long open bookcase can visually divide a space without entirely blocking sight lines or natural light. Another way to define space without blocking it off to is float your sofa. Try placing the back towards the foot or side of the bed so that it creates a conversation area that does not interfere with the serenity of your bedroom space.
Room Dividers
Though subtle divisions may be created by repositioning your furniture, it is possible to make a more decisive line between living and bedroom areas. One of the most common solutions is to purchase and install a room divider. They are available for purchase at many home decor stores, or you can easily make one yourself with a little finesse. Hang sheer curtains to allow some light to filter through; if you want to create a dark sleeping space, consider black-out curtains. You may also opt for more decorative dividers such as bamboo screens, Chinese rice paper screens, metal beaded curtains or modern room dividers that feature three-dimensional, geometric designs.
