Post by: Murrye B. Few people would complain about a too-large bedroom. The typical bedroom layout includes a bed, a nightstand or two, and perhaps a dresser. If you still have a lot of space leftover, you may be wondering how best to use it.

Correct with Color

A cavernous, white room can feel very cold and impersonal. If your large bedroom is long and narrow, use color to trick your eye and bring the space into proportion. Paint the end walls a bold, warm shade and paint the longer walls a light, cool color. In a well-proportioned room, you can paint all of the walls a rich color or hang wallpaper without worrying that the room will feel too small.

Scale Furniture Appropriately

A large bedroom calls for a large bed. If you’ve always wanted a king-sized bed, this is your chance. Make sure that your bed frame also corresponds to the scale of the space.  Choose a large headboard that makes a statement, or consider a canopy bed if the room also had high ceilings. Add sheer curtains along the canopy frame to create a more intimate space within the larger context of the room.

Since you’ll likely still have plenty of space leftover, define a sitting area. Add a small sofa and some chairs, and position them on an area rug to tie the pieces together. Another option is to create a home office or dressing area within your bedroom.

Well, I believe that’s a bit strong, but I was shocked to see our Campaign Bed in the new “Sex In The City” movie though. Actually, that’ a bit strong too because I haven’t actually seen the movie, but somebody told me they saw it and then I remembered that we did indeed sell a bed destined for that very movie set. But now I am going to have to see it to find out whose bedroom it is actually in (I forgot to ask) and what happens in, on or around it. I could see Carrie having it because it is a very clean, simple and straightforward design and well, with Mr. Big, it might be rocking but would never be squeaky. Or is more Charlotte’s style; traditional and refined with a twist? Samantha and Miranda seem less likely, but who knows? Lovers, kids, shoes? I guess I will have to see. Or you can comment and tell me…. Wherever it is, the Campaign iron bed is definitely a bed that is flexible in style but not in quality.
