Here’s the bed…. romantic and elegant just like you. (we hope)

Well, I believe that’s a bit strong, but I was shocked to see our Campaign Bed in the new “Sex In The City” movie though. Actually, that’ a bit strong too because I haven’t actually seen the movie, but somebody told me they saw it and then I remembered that we did indeed sell a bed destined for that very movie set. But now I am going to have to see it to find out whose bedroom it is actually in (I forgot to ask) and what happens in, on or around it. I could see Carrie having it because it is a very clean, simple and straightforward design and well, with Mr. Big, it might be rocking but would never be squeaky. Or is more Charlotte’s style; traditional and refined with a twist? Samantha and Miranda seem less likely, but who knows? Lovers, kids, shoes? I guess I will have to see. Or you can comment and tell me…. Wherever it is, the Campaign iron bed is definitely a bed that is flexible in style but not in quality.

3. We believe a product that will remain useful for generations and is manufactured with careful and thoughtful use of resources is far more sound than one with feel good credentials that will need to be replaced in the near future because it does not last.

Because of our concerns, on a consistent basis we attempt to use pre-consumer and recyclable materials in all of our products and packaging. We have recently redesigned our packaging to better protect our products while at the same time using less packing materials. We always pay fair market pricing for all of our raw materials such as steel, wood, brass and leather rather than simply looking for the lowest price, which can often indicate a companies questionable environmental practices. As a priority, we work to develop long term relationships with companies who harvest or manufacture raw materials in an ecological sound manner. By doing so, we can insure our buying power will have a positive influence on how these raw materials are harvested or manufactured.

As a result, a caring person might comfortably choose one of our plantation mahogany beds as the wood is grown on tree farms not harvested from the rain forest. Our American cherry is also a good environmentally friendly choice as it is grown in the North East US on second growth, highly managed woodlots. Our use of highly skilled craftsmen who hand sort, cut and handwork our beds also creates a far better yield with our wood than high production manufacturers. Each piece of our wood is carefully selected for it’s purpose rather than being just a part in a large scale production run where machinery dictates the process.

All of our iron and brass beds are fully recyclable if need be, but luckily will have a lifetime far too long to make this necessary. Wherever possible, we always use raw materials and manufacture our products to create the lowest environmental impact as possible.

We believe that a concerned consumer must weigh the options and responsibility when purchasing any product. We at Charles P.
