With the rise in popularity of modern design in the mid-20th century, platform beds have become some of our best-selling bed styles. Sleeker and lower than traditional beds, they are designed to use a mattress alone rather than a mattress and box spring.
At Charles P. Rogers, our platform bed styles represent the best of contemporary European, American and Japanese design. Offered in wood, metal and upholstery, all of our platform beds include an internal framework and solid wood base to provide strong rigid support for the entire mattress. Our wood platform bed frames are sturdily constructed from solid hardwood planks matched for quality and grain. Our durable finishes enhance the natural beauty and character of the wood. Each bed is precisely fit and finished with our 150 years of bed-making experience.
Beds made with steel are manufactured with the same care and techniques as our more conventional brass and iron beds. All upholstery is designed for comfort, style and durability.
When Charles P. Rogers founded our company in 1855, little did he know that his company would be as long-lived as the beds he made. Today we celebrate over 150 years of business with an ever-expanding selection of models and styles, including classics from our early days, contemporary designs from the entire 20th century and even premium bed linens.
The platform beds you see on our web site are different from those on other web sites and in catalogs or stores. Each is an original, exclusive design, made in our own factories and available by you, our customer, for direct purchase. We use authentic materials and processes in their construction and pay particular attention to proportion and detail in order to retain the integrity of classic designs while accommodating contemporary bedding sizes.
All of our products are made to the same high standards and offer quality and value that becomes ever more apparent over a lifetime of ownership. Our range of prices is representative of differences in materials and complexity, but, because of our "factory-direct" business model, all bed prices represent substantial discounts over what you would pay for comparable quality in traditional stores.
By necessity we have remained a small company as our products cannot be mass-produced. The advantage for you is that our staff understands and cares how beds are made and they know the best way to get them to your home efficiently and economically.
Since our inception, we have manufactured and sold our products directly to the public from our Manhattan factory showroom or by mail or phone in our catalog. Our warehouse in New Jersey is also open to the public. Right now, a large selection of our most popular styles are in stock and available at substantial savings from made to order prices. Simply order online, by telephone or by visiting one of our factory showrooms. We look forward to assisting you in any way possible and we can't wait to add you to our growing list of delighted customers.
Handcrafted Storage BedsStylish and practical, our storage beds offers a “built in bed look” with tons of storage space. The large, deep drawers can hold large bulky items easily. The drawers have concealed, soft-closing full extension ball bearing drawer slides and feature solid mahogany drawer cases. Designed to use a mattress alone, an upholstered deck is included instead of slats for better support and to protect contents of drawers safe from dust and dirt. They are available in 2 or 4 drawer configurations, with a storage cubby in the footboard that may also be used for an optional digital safe on many models. Drawers are fully assembled. And of course, all are built to the same high standards as every bed we make.
The obvious advantage to a storage bed frame is the extra space it provides. When your closets are brimming with clothes and other items, this innovation can help you manage your living area better, including "Emergency Clutter Control" for one of those “10 minute cleanups”.
No Dust Bunnies
Storage beds eliminates some of the need for the most difficult kinds of cleaning in a bedroom area. Those without a storage bed frame are familiar with the many ways that stuff can accumulate underneath a bed. It’s not just dust, either—lots of items get temporarily “lost” under the bed over time, which leads to yet another great reason for having a storage bed frame that goes all the way down to the floor. If you have a weak knee, do yourself a favor and look at storage bed frame designs that will keep unwanted debris out from under the bed and help out if “spring cleaning” isn’t really your forte.
